Graffiti Project

In 2011, TVAG contracted a company to do a major cleanup of graffiti throughout the main business area of Tecoma. Shown here are a sample of ‘before’ and ‘after’ photographs that clearly display the improvements to our township.

Funding for this cleanup has been by means of a grant from the Shire of Yarra Ranges, from TVAG’s own reserves, plus the private resources of a few TVAG members. If you  able to share in the financial burden of this clean up, then please make your donation to TVAG via our Bendigo Bank Account :

Like so many places, Tecoma continues its battle with graffiti. TVAG members continue to be actively involved in cleaning up graffiti around our township, particularly in the business area and our school. It is thus disappointing to be ‘tarred’ by the actions of others who misguidedly use graffitiing as a component of the wider community’s campaign against a convenience restaurant here.

TVAG represents our area on the Shire of Yarra Ranges Graffiti Working Group and in conjunction with BRAG (Belgrave Region Action Group) is supporting UTG (Upwey Township Group) in a project funded by the State Department of Justice to assist other townships to combat graffiti.

Battle Continues

Graffiti Project expands

Through funding from the State Government’s Graffiti Removal and Prevention Grant Scheme, Upwey Township Group, supported by the Tecoma Village Action Group, has been able to expand its volunteer graffiti program to 4 other townships in the Yarra Ranges Shire.

Beginning with ‘Clean Up Belgrave’ in March this year and finishing recently in Mooroolbark, the program has entailed volunteers from UTG and TVAG visiting other townships, aided by the Shire of Yarra Ranges graffiti cleanup crew, to instruct volunteers on graffiti removal techniques on various surfaces.

The days were a great success and it is hoped that the Shire will continue this program in the future to other townships.
